Fast, precise, battery-powered Vitality Monitoring System
With VIM, Big Dutchman has developed a system for the safe monitoring of the vitality of layer hens housed in cages. VIM works with a laser scanner per tier, which samples the hens' legs. If it encounters large obstacles, VIM registers the corresponding compartment. Up to 8 tiers without intermediate roof can be registered at the same time.
VIM is placed along the feeder edge on two tiers. At the end of the row, the system drives through the tube bypass to make the curve, so that only one device is needed per row. When it has scanned the entire row of cages, it heads to its parking position, located in the final feeding assembly. That is where the battery is recharged with two charging contacts. VIM works very quietly and moves so slowly along the cages that the animals are not scared. No special light conditions are needed. In addition to a standalone version, in which the results can be consulted directly on the 507 screen, we also have a version with WLAN. Thus the data can be consulted on the farm computer and a tabular summary can be printed.
